What is intrusive stacking?

Intrusive stacking with a forklift truck is when the truck operator uses the free space within the framework of the pallet as additional 'aisle space.' It can therefore artificially widen a working aisle width, by allowing the operator to complete his turn / manoeuvre, with a section of the fork poking into the pallet.

Intrusive stacking is not to be recommended as routine practice as it can easily dislodge a pallet within racking, and presents potential health & safety issues.
